1. PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE TESTS IN BROILERS

We offer reliable facilities and services to carry out applied research testing on broilers.

We perform tests from 0 to 42 days of age to measure the following productive parameters: weight gain, food consumption, feed conversion and mortality, per week.

We have available two modules of 48 pens with dimensions of 3 m2 (3 x 1m) each, with a capacity of up to 30 chickens per pen.

Considering the number of birds, the type of facility and our location, the birdhouse simulates the particular characteristics of a commercial farm in the tropics.

Stages of testing:
1. Preparation of the research protocol
2. Running the test
3. Statistical analysis
4. Final report of the test

2. PRODUCTIVE BEHAVIOR TESTS IN LAYING HENS

We offer reliable facilities and services to develop applied research tests in laying hen.

The duration of the tests is determined by the client according to his research needs.

We have three modules of laying hens with different ages, which allows us greater versatility in service. Modules A and B are equipped with 144 laying cages each, with the capacity to house 4 birds per cage, distributed in two-level pyramids with 4 rows each. In this way the cages are arranged in 18 per row and 72 for each pyramid.

Module C has 96 laying cages to accommodate 8 birds per cage, distributed in two two-level pyramids. Each pyramid is arranged in 4 rows with 12 cages each and a total of 48 cages per pyramid.

Considering the number of birds, the type of facility and our location, the houses simulate the particular characteristics of a commercial farm in the tropics.

3. REPLACEMENT LAYER PULLET
We have an exclusive module to carry out tests with cage rearing pullets.

This module has 156 cages to accommodate 10 birds per cage, distributed in three two-level pyramids. Each pyramid is arranged in 4 rows with 13 cages each and a total of 52 cages per pyramid. Considering the number of birds, the type of facility and our location, the houses simulate the particular characteristics of a commercial farm in the tropics.

Las instalaciones se localizan en el poblado de Hunucmá, Yucatán, a 20 km de la ciudad de Mérida.

4.- DIGESTIBILITY TESTS IN POULTRY AND PIGS

Digestibility is a valuable tool to evaluate a food in terms of the use of the nutrients it contains, that is, in what proportion they are digested and absorbed in the digestive tract. There are several factors that can modify digestibility, those related to the animal (species, age, physiological state), to the food (chemical composition, fiber concentration, content of antinutritional factors), or related to the environment.

At CIAAY we offer the evaluation of the digestibility of any raw material, such as meals of animal or vegetable origin. We evaluate this service in species of birds and pigs.

Exclusively for poultry digestibility tests, we have 84 cages with the following dimensions: 40 cm wide by 45 cm deep and 40 cm high, to house 4 adult birds. We have 42 cages with stainless steel trays that make it easier to collect excrement.

The two techniques we use for these tests are the total collection of excreta or adding indigestible marker (Titanium Dioxide) to the food.
